Thanking God for Daddy

My little family took a trip to the library where there is a learning resource for kids 0-5 called Storyville. It’s the first time we’ve all gone together and Daddy has taken the lead, running around and learning with our toddler son in his own educational community. I sat and watched from afar, smiling brightly.

MM has become rather vocal lately, commanding our attention very frequently. After his cry for Mommy comes his plea for Daddy right away and for him both are interchangeable. It excites me that he can ask for Mommy and Daddy in the same breath.

I want to thank God for a present father, one who makes himself available physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally.

Holistically, because this is what our children need.
Passionately, because as a dad to boys, he is the kids ultimate hero and role model. Creatively, because his wisdom intertwined with his artistic mind will help guide the kids’ imagination.

I’m grateful; we know the statistics in the US and abroad. We know the mentality in Africa and other countries of the never-present dad. Some of us recall how we grew up. I thank God for a man who has chosen to do things differently, on purpose, to break the cycle and create a better experience for our kids.

Amazingly, my own father has always been much the same way. Both men are teaching me of the attributes of our Heavenly Father who is ever present in our time of need.

You must be just as grateful. This Father's Day, let’s take time to express our thanks and let them know how much we appreciate them.
