In My Mind's Eye: Dinner and Dance

Wifey’s Story

So Hubby and Wifey are at a couple's dance sitting at their table rather bored while all the other couples dance. Hubby really didn't want to come but Wifey pleaded and insisted. Little did she know that he would just sit there, appeased only by the ribs and crab cakes served. Hubby hardly looks at her, still upset that she brought him there. He looks at his wrist watch every 5 minutes, waiting for it to be over. Wifey sighs "Ce la vie" and accepts her plight, preparing to liberate him by agreeing to go home.

Well, in my mind's eye, this is how it really went down:

Wifey is sitting at the table and suddenly a Latin beat streams through the air. The song ignites her soul; her passion can only be satisfied through dance. Then surprisingly, Hubby is standing in front of her and asks for her hand. Slightly reluctant, she places her hand in his. He whisks her away and impresses her with precise Latin moves. He twists and turns her. He lifts and twirls her. He makes her spin and sway and takes her breath away! Her spirit soars for the love of the music and the man. The dance ends on a sensual note. She look up at him like 'It's on tonight!’ :)

Hubby’s Story

So they’re at a couple's dance sitting at their table. Wifey looks rather bored while all the other couples dance. Hubby didn’t really want to come—he told her, but she pleaded and insisted. She knows this was not his thing. His only satisfaction was the meal—might as well eat enough to cover the cost of the tickets. Yeah he’s upset. He looks at those couples dancing all fancy. She knows he doesn’t dance like that.

Now in my mind’s eye this is how it really went down:

Hubby sits tapping his fingers on the table and comes up with an idea. He gets up, heads over to the DJ and whispers inconspicuously. He then makes his way to the middle of the dance floor demanding space and attention. He yells “Hit it!” Shocked and amused, the crowd looks on with bewilderment when the Cupid Shuffle transcends through the air! The hall bounces with base; the beat captures his senses. He thinks, “Now this is more like it”. Wifey jumps up like “C’mon now!” and joins him with excitement. Soon the crowd catches on. It’s a really fun time. The song ends and she jumps on him, strokes his hair, and says “I’m so proud of you, honey. And yeah, it is on tonight!”
