In My Mind's Eye: A Walk in the Park

Wifey’s Story

Wifey and Hubby take a walk in the park. She thought it would be nice since it was such a beautiful day. The birds chirp in the trees, which are beautifully decorated with pink blossoms. They walk past the lake…so gorgeous and serene. The grass is green, the wind blows softly on her skin--she practically feels at one with nature. “Honey, isn’t it beautiful out here?” “Huh? Yeah honey.” You continue to walk along when he spots a bunch of guys ahead. “Say, do you see those guys playing football over there? Now today’s a nice day for football, yes indeedy. Okay if I go play?” She says “sure”, seconds after he’s jogged off. So much for a romantic walk in the park.

Now in my mind’s eye this is how it really went down:

Wifey is walking down the trail with Hubby when he takes her hand. She thinks ‘This is sweet’ as they swing their arms along. Then suddenly a melody flows through the air and Hubby picks up a tune:

Darling you know that I love you and I know you love me the same.

He jumps onto a park bench:

Every time I am with you, I’m awed at the grace of your name.

He gets behind an oak tree where he peeks out:

Darling you know that I need you and I want you ever the more

He takes her hand on bended knee:

So come away, I want you to stay for with you my lonely heart soars.

Then everyone in the park starts singing his song, performing synchronized dance! It’s like Enchanted or something! Oh, it goes on and on. Then the excitement dies down and suddenly the two of them are alone. Hubby breathes out:

The test of time…girl will you be mine…our love will forever endure.

Then they do one of those kisses where it looks like her neck is going to break off. Hahaha!

Hubby’s Story

Hubby takes Wifey on a walk in the park. It is kind of nice since it’s such a beautiful day. In fact, it’s a great day for sports! When his buddies were around, they played all sorts; but somehow since he and Wifey got married, his buddies didn’t come around like they used to…“Honey, isn’t it beautiful out here?” Hubby’s musings are disturbed. “Huh? Yeah honey.” As they walk along, Hubby spots a bunch of guys ahead. Other guys? In the park? On a nice day? “Say, do you see those guys playing football over there? Now today’s a nice day for football, yes indeedy. Okay if I go play? She says sure. He thinks “I can always count on her” and he jogs off.

Now in my mind’s eye this is how it really went down:

It’s a nice day, and Hubby decides to take a refreshing walk with Wifey. It is a nice day and a great day for sports. She wanted to enjoy the weather in her pretty little dress. Yeah. :/ He and Wifey enjoy the walk when he notices some guys playing football ahead. “Say, do you see those guys playing football over there? Now today’s a nice day for football, yes indeedy. Okay if I go play?” “Football?” she asks; “Yeah sure. Want to be on the same team?” Hubby double-takes. He turns to her and she’s in his favorite football jersey, knotted to the side, in short shorts! She punches him in the arm, “Naw, I’ll be on the other team so you can tackle me as much as you want. She jogs off, leading the way. ;)
