I am probably the least worthy of discussing the icon that is SUPER Mom. While most people teach by example, I share from lessons of failure. You see, when I became a mom in December 2009, I found amazing empowerment from Proverbs 31. Not only did I have a son to implore from Proverbs 31a, but I was fully and completely enamored by the description of The Virtuous Woman. Thus I wrote The Proverbs 31 Diva as an interpretation of this inspiration.
I am furthest from being that woman, and I realized it most with my attempt to be a stay-at-home mom for 2 years. I have come to believe that "being home" is a great honor, an honor that I did not deserve in the midst of my very large educational loans and personal debit. At the time I had trashed my dreams of being a professional, but my debt and disappointment steadily trailed behind me. Because of loving friends, we produced What am I Here For? which gave me that "mustard seed of faith" that Passion & Purpose could still exist for me. I had truly stopped dreaming. In fact, I felt like I had nothing more to look forward to in life.
God is such a present help in times of trouble! He has instigated such a whirlwind of transformation since then. He gave me the power to rise up and reclaim purpose so that today I believe I am closer to the motherhood that my children need. Now we share our version of S.U.P.E.R. Mom, not because we've made it, but because we recognize that we can't do it alone and that it was never really about us. We also know that being S.U.P.E.R. is UNIQUE to each of us. It's a day-by-day, moment by moment status, and I get to start over when I get it wrong!
Here's to all Moms out there. Let's dream again! Let's be again! The power is in our hands. And GOD is there to back you up and do the impossible for you!!!
Uniquely,
-tia
